Amigurumi has become a popular hobby in the world of craftsmanship, and in this article I will present you a great Amigurumi Dragon design. Trust your imagination while doing amigurumi. And dare to create your own unique designs. Welcome to the Amigurumi world, enjoy fun handicraft projects.

Construction

This little dragon is as fun to make as he is to hug. Okay, almost as fun — nothing quite beats baby dragon hugs.

His body and tail are all one piece, starting at the tip of his tail and curving around so he lays on his back, tail between his legs.

His legs are done with branching and merging techniques. His wings are worked flat and then sewn to his back.

Dragon Free Crochet Pattern

Pattern is written in English, in US terms, using Craft Yarn Council abbreviations.

  • Work in continuous rounds. Do not slip stitch unless otherwise specified by the pattern. For best results, assemble parts in order as directed.
  • Rounds labeled “Short round” are worked back and forth and will end before the round is complete, leaving stitches deliberately unworked to be worked in later rounds as instructed.
  • When instructed, an additional sc(s) will be added at the end of a round to move the starting stitch of the next round to the left (clockwise).
  • Ch-2 at beginning of row counts as a dc.

Position the belly scales so the tail bends at your desired angle up over the belly. The position of the belly scales determines where the “front” of your baby dragon will be.

Hold belly scales to body with the first row touching Rnd 101 of the body (about 7 rows from the point of the neck). The belly scales should end at the bend in the tail. Pin belly in place.

Sewing through both loops of the border, working all the way around the edge, sew the belly scales to the body.

Pin a 3 x 3 square around the narrow end of the hind leg.

Pin a 3 x 3 square on the top of the hind foot, centered over the widest part.

With the foot perpendicular to the leg and the toes facing out, use the pins as a guide to sew the foot to the leg.

Hold Hind Leg to body with knee facing toward head, foot facing up. The point of the thigh will be atRnd 65 of the body, theRnd after the last shortRnd of the tail. Once positioned as desired, pin around the outside edge of the thigh where it touches the body and again on the body to create matching pins on each piece.

On the other side of the body, directly opposite the first leg, use pins to mark the other leg in the same way so the legs are even and mirror each other.

Wing Cartilage

Using pins, mark two straight lines on each wing from the peak of each wing to the picots on the bottom of each wing.

Using TEAL, loosely stitch a surface st (see Special Stitches), along the four marked straight lines.

Wing Attachment

Using pins, mark 10 sts centered on back of neck at Rnd 101, directly opposite the top of the belly scales.

Lay the wings on the back with the top borderless section between the wing tips and pin in place where stitches are marked. Lay the wings flat against the back.

The bottom of the wings should touch the last shortRnd of the body,Rnd 65, along the curve of the last short round. Pin wings in an arch over the last short round.

Wing SEA sewing tail from wings, sew bottom of wings to Rnd 65, sew through the body and through the flat part of the wing every few stitches straight up until you reach the other borderless section of wings pinned to Rnd 101, sewing through the back of the chains, sew wings to body between marked sts, sew back through the body and flat part of wings every few stitches straight down the back until you reach the bottom of wings again.
